I had a pretty crazy and stressful semester I ended it with a camping trip the weekend right after finals and the end of the school year. Christine and Wilson hosted the most luxurious camping trip ever. There was endless amounts of food and we barely did any hiking since there wasn’t many paths near the campsite, so we just relaxed and ate all weekend long. Even though it was Memorial day weekend, there was like 4 campsites taking out of 20 since it was raining that weekend. It didn’t rain that hard and none of us got soaked.

Memorable moments:

• Borrowing Sean’s phone to check my emails and found out his last google search was “how to boil a hotdog”. What made it more funny was Sean was trying to justify that it was a reasonable question even though throwing a hotdog in boiling water isn’t exactly the hardest thing to do….
• Kevin breaking Wilson’s RC car. Kevin keeps breaking Wilson’s things… Wilson: Good thing you broke the axel or else it would’ve never fit in the car.
• Throwing rocks in the river.
• Eating.
• Kevin beating Sean and I in Uno in 10+ times in a row. Kevin is the Jon Cena of Uno.
• Putting a walkie near Phill’s tent and making animal noises to scare him.
• Confusing the hell out of Kevin while he was intoxicated.

After a tough semester in the Spring of working, volunteering and going to school full time. My hard work has paid off; I got my first 4.0 GPA and I got a job working for the Unified School District. Come August 15th, i’ll be back in the grind.

I worked for a new organization this summer as a program leader(teacher). For 6 weeks I experienced what it was like to a real teacher. I had to run my own curriculum and teach kids new and old things. It was my first time leading a class with some volunteers so it was a new experience for me. What I found really difficult was keeping certain students challenged while making sure it wasn’t too difficult for others since not everyone  finishes their work at the same time. I’m sad its over because I really enjoyed being with my students, volunteers, and coworkers. We had some great field trips such as the Exploratorium, Academy of Sciences, and Children’s playground in GG park. The most memorable moments were when all the teachers were in the jump house tackling each other when we were all way over the weight limit and the jump house caved in on itself and when there was a swarm of bees blanketing the whole school on the last day. I wish I had summer camp as a kid.

For now, I have about 3 weeks of vacation until I start work again. It’s been day 3 and I’ve been extremely bored. I’ve been used to having a frantic and busy schedule and I guess i’m not used to it since almost everyone is out at work I really have no one to hang out with. To preoccupy my time I have been running, cooking, reading and doing chores which isn’t bad since I didn’t really have time to do those things when I had work or school. I wish I could afford to go on vacation overseas in Asia right now.

He served as the chef at the same restaurant for over 25 years. He has butchered countless animals at banquet halls and kitchens. Chef John is the mastermind for this year’s  Thanksgiving feast and his job is to ensure that his family is overfed and bloated by the end of dinner.

Flip cup (Flippy Cup or Cups) is a team-based drinking game developed on college campuses. Two teams of an equal number of players stand on opposite sides of a table, facing one another. The players directly facing are opponents. In front of each teammate is a Solo Cup filled with a set amount of beer. Generally, the first line inside a Solo cup is used as a marker.

At the start, it is customary for the initiating players to make a toast, after which the first member of each team drinks the entirety of their beverage. When finished, the cup is placed open side up at the edge of the table, and the player who drank it attempts to flip the cup, by flicking or lifting the bottom until it flips and lands face down on the table, sitting on its mouth. The player may not use two hands, or blow on the cup to “guide” the cup to flip over. If player is unsuccessful on the first try, the cup is reset and re-flipped. Only after the first teammate is done flipping successfully can the next person proceed. Additionally, subsequent players may not touch or manipulate their cup until the previous player has successfully flipped their cup. Whichever team finishes drinking and flipping all its cups first wins.

We also cleaned laundry and built some railroads while we were camping.

We burned a lot of things, mainly cigarettes and food wrappers. The Hershey’s chocolate wrapper took forever to burn. We could never have enough wood for the campfire, we’d usually end up picking up dried up branches from the floor to keep the fire going.

Timothy hates wood.

Especially ones that stand straight up.

Don’t trust your wood when Timothy is near.

I had a great time throughout the camping trip. We all smelled like campfire and felt gross by the end of the trip. All the signs of a successful camping trip.

When it gets dark, theres not a lot to do but socialize and take pictures. We put on our headlamps and turned up the exposure to kill some time.
